He had earmark a career in coaching at an early age, being only 22 years old.He would eventually land at Preston North End,the place where his managerial qualities initially came to the fore.Moyes took over from Gary Peters at Deepdale in 1998,at the age of 34,after being a member of the coaching staff. He manage to stave off the threat of relegation to the third division & then changed the playing style of the club from long ball to neat passing game.

The closest Moyes came to silverware with Everton was an FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea in 2009,when Louis Saha scored the fastest final goal ever.Despite no winning a trophy with toffees,Moyes was chosen by Manchester United on the recommendation of Sir Alex Ferguson to replace his compatriot in the Old Trafford hotseat. It was an offer that Moyes could not refuse.
